Movie “The Fourth Kind” Has Mixed Reviews
I have heard from a dozen readers all of whom liked the film and thought it was an asset to the field of Ufology.” “The Fourth Kind” has enjoyed modest success this weekend when the alien abduction tale generated about $12.5 million, placing it fourth in box office receipts less than $1 million behind George Clooney’s latest flick, “Men Who Stare at Goats,” that was third.

Walt Disney Co’s Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” topped the North American box office with ticket sales of $31 million. Last weekend’s champion, the Michael Jackson concert documentary “This is It” slipped to #2 with $14 million. Considering there is no major actors in the “The Fourth Kind,” the film had a good showing. It was written and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, who says alien abductions were responsible for the disappearance of people in Nome, Alaska. The local police authorities admit there are missing people but feel they may have gotten drunk and become lost in the wild surrounding territory. A woman identified as Dr. Abbey Taylor, a psychologist treats several people suffering from nightmares that she ties to alien abductions.
The Anchorage Daily News explored the disappearance/abduction angle and characterized the whole thing as a hoax.
