DATABASE OF POLICE UFO SIGHTINGS IN ENGLAND
A DATABASE of UFO sightings by police officers has clocked up more than 200 cases in five years.
Launched by Detective Constable Gary Heseltine, of the British Transport Police (BTP), the unofficial site has seen around 100 officers added each year to date.
Sightings in the News Shopper region include one in Farnborough and one in Gravesend.
In October 1993 PC Tony Francis was called to an address in Gravesend after reports of a UFO from a mother and her son.
The craft was described as changing its shape from that of a bell to an oval with protruding spikes.
According to the DC Heseltine, a seven-page report on the sighting was submitted to the Ministry of Defence, which gave no explanation for the UFO.
Back in April 1978, PC Alan Craggs was called to an address in Farnborough, following an alleged UFO sighting.
According to the site, PC Craggs described it as: “being 20-30 feet above him with wings like fins on a dolphin.”
The craft had allegedly been in the sky for close to an hour before the officer arrived.
PC Craggs is reported to have said: “I’ve been in the Air Force, I know what an aircraft looks like at night.”
The site lists a total of 43 new reports of UFOs seen by on-duty police officers across Britain in the past year, with the largest number of sightings taking place in West Yorkshire.
DC Heseltine, who works for the BTP in Leeds, said: “After studying the subject for over thirty years I am totally convinced that a small proportion of UFO sightings are genuine and represent an extraterrestrial presence on the earth.
“I urge any officer out there, whether serving or retired to contact me about their respective UFO experiences.
“Anyone wishing to have their identity witheld can do so safe in the knowledge that I will never release their details unless they specifically allow me to.”

RAF jets were scrambled to investigate UFOs about 200 times a year during the Cold War.
But after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 the number of reported sightings fell to zero as Moscow stopped sending anti-submarine aircraft and spy planes into British airspace. The RAF, however, continued to scramble aircraft in missions against known targets, including hijacked airliners, suspected drug smugglers and jets launched from a Russian aircraft carrier.
The information is revealed in a Ministry of Defence briefing note for a response to a July 1996 Parliamentary Question from Martin Redmond, then Labor MP for Don Valley in South Yorkshire. He had asked how many times RAF aircraft had been scrambled or diverted from tasks to investigate “uncorrelated targets” picked up on radar. The MoD replied that over the past five years there had been no incidents. But further details included in a background note, said: “Prior to the demise of the former Soviet Union, aircraft were scrambled some 200 times annually to intercept and investigate uncorrelated tracks penetrating the UK air defence region from the north. These invariably proved to be anti-submarine or long range reconnaissance aircraft of the then-Soviet air force, some of which had already been intercepted by adjacent air defence systems or intelligence sources.” The last scramble of this kind took place in September 1991.

They’re not on the invitation list, but maybe it’s time UFOs made an appearance at a G20 summit, argue researchers into the mysterious objects.
And one Canadian authority speculates Earth’s most powerful commanders suddenly have a better chance of getting a glimpse of something strange in the Canadian sky.
Those who are looking for answers into one of the planet’s most stubborn riddles — “What the heck is that up there?” — have been energized by G20 members opening up previously classified UFO documents.
Canada has joined Australia, Britain, France, Spain, Brazil, Sweden and New Zealand in making the papers pubic.
While chronicling bizarre incidents — British air commanders once ordered a pilot to shoot down a UFO before the object vanished — the files haven’t inspired world leaders to bring the mysteries down to Earth.
“With more pressing things on the G20 agenda … it’s unlikely that UFOs would ever come up in discussions,” acknowledges Chris Rutkowski, a Winnipeg science writer and leading authority on UFOs in Canada.
But an unexplained event near a G20 summit might put the issue on the table, he believes.
“In fact, one suggestion is that the recent earthquake just outside of Ottawa might generate — or have generated — some UFO activity throughout southern Ontario,” he explains.
Some — though Rutkowski isn’t convinced — believe UFOs are caused by electromagnetic energy released before and after seismic events.
“Hence, G20 leaders might see some UFOs while in the Toronto area,” Rutkowski says of the theory.
Nick Pope — who once ran the British government’s UFO project at the Ministry of Defence — now helps with the declassification of previously top-secret files.
“It would be fascinating to see the UFO subject raised at the G20 summit,” he tells QMI Agency.
He doesn’t think it’s so far fetched, considering the United Nations took a look at the phenomenon in 1977, and last week an Italian politician called for the European Parliament to force member states to open up their UFO files.
“I’m not saying these things are extraterrestrial — the truth is that governments don’t know what they are, despite accusations from conspiracy theorists who think we have crashed spaceships hidden away in air force hangers.”
But the science could have an impact in security and air travel, Pope points out.
He adds: “Maybe world leaders should at least take a look at this.”

The 300ft turbine at Conisholme in Lincolnshire was left wrecked after the incident. The Sun quoted residents speculating that the damage could have been caused by a UFO.
Ecotricity, the company which operates the turbine, said it was investigating the unprecedented incident. A spokeswoman said: “We’re conducting a thorough investigation into what happened. This kind of thing has never happened to us before.”
The missing blade was found on the ground beneath the turbine, she said, adding that the company could not speculate on the cause of the damage. “An engineer has been on the site since it happened, early on Sunday morning, and is carrying out a sort of forensic investigation.”
The Sun said flashing orange-yellow spheres had been seen by dozens of people in the area, including by Dorothy Willows, who lives half a mile from the scene of the incident. Ms Willows was in her car when she saw the lights.
“She said: “The lights were moving across the sky towards the wind farm. Then I saw a low flying object. It was skimming across the sky towards the turbines.”
The blade was ripped off hours later, at 4am.
The Ministry of Defence said it was not looking into the incident. A spokesman said: “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. Unless there’s evidence of a potential threat, there’s no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.”
But Nick Pope, a UFO-watcher who used to work for the MOD, called for an investigation. “There’s a public safety issue here, whatever you believe about UFOs. The Ministry of Defence’s standard line on UFOs isn’t good enough. The MOD and the Civil Aviation Authority need to investigate as a matter of urgency.” Special thanks to Times Online.com/uk.
