It may sound like a Spielberg movie plot, but if senior U.S. airmen are to be believed, this scenario is not science fiction.
They claim that since 1948, aliens have been hovering over UK and U.S. nuclear missile sites and deactivating the weapons– once even landing in a British base. Furthermore, they warn, our governments are hushing the activity up. Captain Robert Salas, who, along with six others is to break his silence on the subject, said: ‘We’re talking about unidentified flying objects, as simple as that. ‘They’re often known as UFOs, you could call them that. The U.S. Air Force is lying about the national security implications of unidentified aerial objects at nuclear bases and we can prove it,’ he said. The former officer said he witnessed such an event first-hand on March 16, 1967, at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. I was on duty when an object came over and hovered directly over the site.

‘The missiles shut down – ten Minuteman [nuclear] missiles. And the same thing happened at another site a week later. There’s a strong interest in our missiles by these objects, wherever they come from. I personally think they’re not from planet Earth.’ Colonel Charles Halt claims to have seen a UFO at RAF Bentwaters near Ipswich, one of the few bases in the UK to hold nuclear weapons.
The sighting is said to have taken place 30 years ago. First he saw the object firing beams of light into the base then heard on the military radio that aliens had landed inside the nuclear storage area, he said. ‘I believe that the security services of both the United States and the United Kingdom have attempted – both then and now – to subvert the significance of what occurred at RAF Bentwaters by the use of well-practised methods of disinformation.’
The six former U.S. Air Force officers and one former enlisted man, are to present declassified information which they claim backs up their findings. They have witness testimony from 120 former or retired military personnel which points to alien intervention at nuclear sites in the U.S. as recently as 2003. They will urge the authorities to confirm that alien beings have long been visiting Earth.
A press conference today in Washington will also highlight testimony from retired U.S. Air Force Captain Bruce Fenstermacher, whose security team saw a cigar-shaped UFO hovering above FE Warren nuclear base in Wyoming in 1976. Researcher Robert Hastings, who has written on the subject, explained that so far the aliens appeared interested in ‘mere surveillance’ but warned they seemed to have gone further in some instances.
‘At long last, all of these witnesses are coming forward to say that, as unbelievable as it may seem to some, UFOs have long monitored and sometimes tampered with our nukes,’ he added

UFOs Shut Down Nuclear Weapons Sites Says Former Air Force Officer
Despite the U.S. military’s insistence that UFOs ceased to be of any scientific or national security interest after publication of the Condon Report in 1968, nuclear missile installations around the world have been a frequent target of UFO activity and, in some cases, otherwise inexplicable shut-downs.
This is a fact verified by both government documents obtained through FOIA requests, as well as eyewitness testimony.
One such incident occurred at Malstrom AFB, home of the 341st Missile Wing in central Montana.
On the morning of March 16, 1967, Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander (DMCCC) Robert Salas was on duty inside Malstrom’s subterranean Oscar-Flight Launch Control Center (LCC) capsule near Roy, Montana when he received a call from a “clearly frightened” topside security officer reporting that a UFO was hovering over the front gate.
Alarms sounded moments later as, one after another, up to eight Minuteman missiles went into “no-go” (inoperable) condition.
On September 27 of this year, Robert Salas, together with UFO researcher Robert Hastings, will host a press conference at the National Press Club addressing the issue of UFO interference with nuclear missile facilities over the years.
This interference, widely-known and well-documented, is glaringly inconsistent with the U.S. military’s repeated statements that it has no interest in UFOs.
According to Hastings, more than 100 former U.S. Air Force nuclear weapons installation personnel have come forward with information that contradicts the military’s no-see-um stance.
The September Salas-Hastings press conference will present testimony from one dozen former Air Force personnel and is attempting to raise $15,000 to cover conference expenses.

It’s been the subject of books and films, and it’s destructive potential impact on the future of humankind is not only deadly, it’s also very real.
In William R. Forstechen’s best-selling novel One Second After, an unidentified enemy of the United States launches a nuclear missile into the upper stratosphere over the United States, creating an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) which knocks out the electrical grid in most–if not all–of the United States.
John Matherson, a resident of the small town of Black Mountain, North Carolina, struggles daily to protect his family and find food and other resources in a world where automobiles relying on solid state components, as well as computers, telephones, and anything else electronic is rendered useless. After months of depleting resources, the limits of human desperation begin to ensue, and the residents are ultimately forced to fight for their lives in an effort to survive the horrors of new and unexpected dark age. Even more terrifying than the mere story Forstchen outlines is the fact that this scenario could actually happen.
Having known Forstchen for several years, I caught up with him briefly at our local radio station, since the setting for his novel is his real life hometown of Black Mountain, a mere 30 minutes drive from where I reside. I told him his book scared the living crap out of me, and just grinning, he took a slight bow as he stood facing me in the doorway, and said “welcome to my nightmare.”
“No Bill,” I corrected him. “Our nightmare.”
What is most important about this nightmare scenario has less to do with the simple fact that an EMP could in fact wipe out the electrical grid in any vicinity affected by such phenomenon. Instead, the most chilling factor is that it would take far less than a nuclear attack to cause an EMP with the sort of destructive potential described in Forstchen’s book; Earth’s Sun, through the release of a massive concentration of heliospheric radiation, could do this easily if a powerful solar storm were to occur. In the event such a storm took place, would it be possible to predict when it would occur, and how potentially destructive such an act of nature might be?
Although there is much speculation regarding the latter of these, NASA has in fact predicted that the Sun has recently emerged from a period of inactivity it likens to “a deep slumber,” and that a strong likelihood exists for a potentially devastating solar storm to occur by 2013 that would make Hurricane Katrina look like a flash flood, with 20 times more destructive power.
The British Times Online reported on the story, quoting NASA scientist Dr. Richard Fisher about the destruction a solar storm of such magnitude might have:
He said large swathes of the world could face being without power for several months, although he admitted that was unlikely.
A more likely scenario was that large areas, including northern Europe and Britain which have “fragile” power grids, would be without power and access to electronic devices for hours, possibly even days.
So how do we protect ourselves from this kind of trouble… or can we? Fortunately, it is expected that many cars, and perhaps even a few homes, would act as natural Faraday Cages, protecting sensitive electronic components within. However, gas pumps, which are fueled electronically, would likely become inoperable, as would most broadcast and communications systems, unless measures are taken now to harden electrical infrastructure so that these sorts of things can be dealt with in preemptive ways. Still, even if there is a potential to protect against this sort of thing, will world leaders take the threat seriously, whether devastation lasts only a few days, or potentially several months, and mobilize an effort to ward off the threat in any ways we can? If not, one can only imagine the consequences… and what kind of a world we might have in the absence of modern conveniences we’ve grown so dangerously used to.
